About Corporation / How You Can Help / Home WHAT: The Five Rivers Festival non-profit corporation was created in 1996 to present the Montana Five Rivers Festival of Film, a vanguard film event established to celebrate the art and craft of filmmaking. The Festival cultivates an environment that champions the creation, interpretation and preservation of cinema. The Festival highlights the accomplishments and talent of film professionals who are rarely heard from including but not limited to: technicians, designers, composers, cinematographers, producers, production managers, casting directors, screenwriters, editors and choreographers. These filmmakers are invited to present and discuss their work and focus on their particular discipline as it relates to cinematic storytelling. All films are screened in original formats for the big screen. WHY: The Festival was born from the desire to both have access to a variety of films that display an exemplary art and/or craft in filmmaking and to hear from those creative artists who collaborate to make great film. While recognizing and celebrating artists' work, the Festival hopes to broaden filmgoers' understanding and appreciation of film artistry and storytelling. WHO: Festival board members are Chris Cronyn, Cinda Holt, John Keegan and Pamela Roberts. Staff includes Terry Cyr, general manager and Gary Burr, publicist. A Festival advisory group of film enthusiasts from Montana includes Annick Smith, Andrew Smith, Alex Smith (Montana writers/filmmakers), Pam Roberts (Rattlesnake Productions), Lonie Stimac (Montana Film Office), Arlynn Fishbaugh (Montana Arts Council) and Jill Zignego (Whitefish Film Society), among others. National advisors to the Festival include John Cooper (Sundance Institute), Michael Hausman, (Filmhaus, New York), Robert Hawk (ICI, New York), Cathy Main (Cheesman/Main Films, Los Angeles), Saundra Saperstein (Utah Film Commission) and Lynne Shaara, Festival co-founder and past director. The selection of films and filmmakers presented by the Festival is by invitation and based on the criteria described in the Festival's mission. Current
