The mission
of the Montana Five Rivers Festival of Film is the development of
opportunities for Montanans to examine and celebrate the art and
craft of filmmaking.
- screen past
and current films which exemplify the art and craft of filmmaking
- enhance appreciation
for the creative process of filmmaking for audiences of all ages
- showcase
the techniques and styles of artists who collaborate to create
a film, specifically: technicians, designers, composers, cinematographers,
producers and production managers, casting directors, screenwriters,
editors, choreographers, actors and directors
- establish
an environment where film artists can seek refuge from the marketplace,
share their ideas and experiences with other film artists and
enhance their creativity
- encourage
film interpretation and exchange of ideas between film enthusiasts
and artists in a festival setting
- exhibit various
types of films including:
domestic and foreign feature films, documentaries, animation,
silent films and short films
- exhibit films
that focus on the specific styles created by various film artists
- provide a
forum to present artists who can:
-- articulate a film's story and origination
-- reflect on the critical responses of their works
-- address the collaboration required to make a film
-- share the technical aspects of their craft
-- discuss a broad range of film experiences
-- offer personal interpretations and historic perspectives of
their works
- create a
network for film enthusiasts
